New TrimAir Lightweight
Compressor Removes Heavy Lifting From Trim Carpenter’s Job Description
June 29, 2005 – East Greenwich, RI –
BOSTITCH unveiled today what it claims will become the future of
lightweight portable air compressors – the model CAP1516 TrimAir.
Senior Global Product Manager Gary Blanchette said, “Weighing
only 19.5 pounds, the lightweight design of TrimAir offers a portable,
more versatile solution for professionals working in occupied or
confined spaces.” The model CAP1516 is designed for a variety
of applications including trim carpentry, cabinet installation,
punch-lists, window
& door installation, and DIY projects.
TrimAir touts an ultra-efficient 1.5 peak horsepower motor to deliver
up to 1.8 CFM at 90psi. Unlike larger compressors, it starts and runs
with only 8 amps of power. According to Blanchette, “Competitive
units sometimes fail to operate at the work-site due to higher voltage
and amperage requirements.” TrimAir was engineered to draws
less amps, which eliminates the frustration of flipping breakers and
experiencing unnecessary downtime.
Thanks to its oil-free design, TrimAir minimizes job-site maintenance
and reduces downtime for dependable performance no matter how remote
the jobsite. Unlike units requiring oil, the new BOSTITCH unit will
start and run on sloped surfaces because it has no crank case or fluid
level to maintain.
As concerns over noise and jobsite communication continue to mount,
TrimAir responds to the issue with a dramatic noise reduction of only
75 decibels – 14 dB less than comparable units. Surprisingly,
this unit produces the same noise level of a standard household vacuum
cleaner.
The model CAP1516’s internal 1.6 gallon reserve tank reduces
run time while providing ample reserve capacity for larger finish
nailers. “Not only does this extend the life of the motor, it
reduces noise at the jobsite,” says Blanchette. TrimAir’s
exterior housing provides a recessed regulator, gauge, and auto coupler
to protect the unit’s vital parts from the wear and tear of
daily use.
Plug & play is made simple thanks to TrimAir’s integrated
cord wrap, which is located on the underside of the compressor. This
feature, combined with a convenient top-handle carry design, allows
the user to move from room to room quickly during the final stages
of a punch list without dragging a dirty air hose over finished work.
The model CAP1516 comes complete with a regulator, gauge, and quick
coupler. Currently available on the market, the unit is expected to
sell at retail for approximately $179. Accessories for TrimAir include
a new line of PROZHOSE lightweight polyurethane air hoses. The 1/4"
PROZHOSE™, which is ideal for roofing and trim applications,
is sold in 50' lengths approximate retail price of $39.99) as well
as 100' lengths (approximate retail price of $79.99).
The 3/8" PROZHOSE™, which is ideal for framing applications,
is sold in 50' lengths (approximate retail price of $59.99) as well
as 100' lengths (approximate retail price of $99.99).
